Organization of Learning Resources

Lesson 6

-Cathy is right when she said to start Assignment #2 early so that we can enjoy it and create something that we can actually use in our jobs.  I started this assignment and have been to the public library a few times already and looked online at some resources and this has made a difference.  I am not in a mad rush so I am letting my mind mull over some ideas and that is a good feeling.

-I really like on Vista that we can see each other’s MARC records and read each other’s frustrations and successes.  It made me feel better to see classmate’s examples because then I saw what I was expected to create and that it was the process not the end product because each of the classmate’s postings were different.  There wasn’t one way to make a ‘first’ MARC record.  Along the way I just reminded myself that it is “Progress not perfection”.

-Wow, I am surprised and overwhelmed by all the vocabulary involved in this course.  It is making my brain grow.  I’m glad that Cathy provided us with the online library dictionary to help us with the vocabulary: http://www.abc-clio.com/ODLIS/searchODLIS.aspx .  I have it bookmarked on my labtop.  I often refer back to it as I go through each week’s lessons.  It helps to jog my memory on what old words mean as well as new words or acronyms I come across.
